Focus Group Therapy
Simon Hearn is now offering an additional service:
Are you seeking therapy with a really experienced therapist, but find costs for one-to-one therapy too high?
Consider more affordable, powerful, Group Therapy. This can be a warm, strong route to growth and change. Join a supportive, interested collection of simpatico souls engaged in ongoing personal, and interpersonal, evolution.
Do you think about your connections and communications with people, how you are with them? How to keep hold of yourself while staying open to love, friendship, family, work partnerships? Become part of a community, to address problems in a safe atmosphere, to work on receiving and giving feedback, to find out how others see you. Open up, trust, share your worries.
Some issues appropriate to bring to group, though the list is not all-inclusive, include loneliness, disconnection, excessive shyness, unassertiveness, low self-esteem, relationship losses, depression, stress, worry, self-care and mood management, family concerns, workplace stresses and burnout.
The Focus Group is an ongoing, open-ended counseling group at the Hycroft Building, 16th and Granville, Vancouver. It will have at most ten members. The preference is to have an even number of men and women in the group. My Granville practice, where I work independently, is gay positive.
This group started on Thursday, May 20, 2004, and meets every week on Thursdays, 12:30-2:00 PM. The cost is $40 per session, payable before the session; please arrive 15 minutes early to take care of payment and settle in.
People interested in joining, or learning more about the group, should call Registered Psychologist Dr. Simon Hearn, at 604-732-5991, for a free individual meeting at 16th and Granville (also where the group meets) for between 30 and 60 minutes. The purpose of the meeting is to inform you about the group, to make sure it will be a good fit for you, and for Dr. Hearn to learn about your background.
